The Midwest Aluminum Premium rose considerably through the month of June, closing about $0.20 per pound higher than the previous month.  This was the major driver in a substantial increase in the price of raw aluminum, with the Midwest Average closing June at $1.72 per pound (rounded two places).  There is still considerable uncertainty as to how soon prices may start to trend down towards typical ranges.  We are estimating another increase in August based on early numbers we are seeing for the month of July.
